This is an older story, from October last year, but one which demonstrates how digital innovation is making a real difference. A combination of  MRI scanning technology with the 3D printing of a heart enabled doctors in the US to preform surgery on a 2 week old baby. The model of the heart showed exactly what surgery was required and what had to be done, doing away with the need for exploratory surgery.
