To celebrate the official opening of the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre (SAW) on 24 October 2014, Residential Services put together an exhibition of pictures and sounds from around the halls.

Everyone in halls was invited to capture their experiences during the first weeks of term and then tweet their photos to @LSEResLife tagged with #LSEwhatweSAW. We asked for favourite places, special social events, or the best views in London and received around 100 submissions.

Ashley Cory put the images together with a selection of audio recordings from around the halls and turned them into a fantastic audio-visual display, entitled ‘Life in Halls’ (listen out for the washing machine!).

The whole LSE community was invited to come and see the exhibition in the 6th Floor Studio with many students joining us and talking to us about how their time in halls enhances their overall experience at LSE.

This event was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the important work that is done across teams within Residential Services, and to demonstrate the value of the service we provide to students.

As a reward for entering the #LSEwhatweSAW competition ten students were given a ticket to the evening Official Opening Ceremony and all were entered into a prize draw to win an iPad.

Hanbo Hu was the lucky winner with his picture of a rainy day through a window at Bankside House.  Congratulations Hanbo and a big thankyou to everyone who entered a photo into the competition, and all staff who helped make the exhibition happen.
