At this time of year, as minds start to turn to exams, things are certainly a bit quieter at LSE Careers, with fewer events taking place. We’re still around, though, and from Thursday 20 April, following our brief Easter closure, we will be very happy to see you here on Floor 5 of SAW if you want to take some time out of your busy studying regime and have a chat about your career choices, what you want to do over the summer, or do a bit of interview preparation.

Once exams are out of the way, our summer programme begins. As well as offering you the chance to hone your interview and networking skills, we’ll cover more difficult issues like resilience in the face of disappointing results, and give you some guidance on how to get the most out of your summer job. And for those of you who are still looking for opportunities, whether it’s casual work, an internship or full-time job, don’t forget that new positions will continue to be added to CareerHub – as we speak, we have over 1,400 opportunities listed.

It’s never too late to start thinking about your options and the path you want to pursue after LSE, even if you’re not sure what you want to do yet. We offer a wide range of services designed to inform and guide you throughout your time here and to help you in your decision making process:

Use our resources

You can visit our Resource Centre on Floor 5 of the Saw Swee Hock Centre, use the computers, and browse the CV and cover letter and application form guides and free literature available. Additionally we have exclusive online resources for LSE students and a comprehensive website filled with information including sections on career planning, job hunting, employment sectors, and further study alongside specialist pages covering international careers and country profiles, postgraduate study, and information for students with disabilities. You can also use our Career Builder tool which can help you navigate the career planning process and find the most appropriate information and resources whatever stage you’re at.

Speak to a careers consultant

Whether you want to talk through your careers options (or have no idea what they are), gain advice and feedback on your CV, cover letters and application forms, or have a practice interview, we have a team of experienced careers consultants running one-to-one appointments every day from 9:30am-5pm, with late appointments available until 8pm every Thursday during term-time. You’re entitled to four careers appointments and one practice interview per term.

• entrepreneurship
• mock assessment centres

Find opportunities

We have a wide range of opportunities listed on CareerHub. Whether you’re looking for a full or part-time job, internship, summer job, graduate employment opportunity, experienced hire work, or one-off or international volunteering work you can filter your search by type of opportunity, area of focus, or even by employer. CareerHub should be your first port of call when looking for opportunities for LSE students.

Volunteer

The LSE Volunteer Centre is part of LSE Careers, and as well as looking at opportunities on CareerHub you can discuss options for volunteering to suit your needs. Volunteering is a great way to develop skills whilst meeting new people, having fun, and giving something back to a community and can improve your career prospects. You may choose to volunteer for an ongoing period of time or you can take part in one of the many one-off micro volunteering opportunities our team arrange.
