Welcome back to Lent Term – how LSE Careers can help you

If you didn’t get a chance to explore what we have to offer last term, it’s never too late; and if you did, we have the usual plus many more brilliant things planned for the rest of the year and beyond. We’re here to help you whether you know what you want to do or not, and we’re here for (and useful to!) everyone from first years just settling into university life through to anyone about to finish a PhD.

So here’s a guide to our online and offline support – all equally important, but feel free to choose what suits you according to what stage you’re at. For example, if you’ve never written a CV before go along to one of our events on that, or if you want some quick and simple information on a careers topic like interviews, why not browse our webpages and blogs on that?

Blog and website

As we’re here already, we’ll start with this blog! This blog is updated daily with the latest news, events, and career insights from our consultants and guest bloggers. The Careers website is also an amazing resource for nearly anything you’d want to know about applications, employment sectors, interviews, and beyond, so start exploring today!

Weekly newsletter

We send you a weekly newsletter direct to your LSE inbox on Thursdays in term-time with all important news, interesting jobs, and upcoming events. It’s a great way to keep track of what’s going on and tailor your career planning experience!

Social media

Social media

Whether you’re new to LSE or are returning, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as there will be something for you – whether it’s the latest news; information on upcoming events; new graduate profiles; opportunities to get involved in volunteering and entrepreneurship; sharing your tips and experience as students, and more.

CareerHub

CareerHub is the place to access nearly all of LSE Careers resources. When you log on using your LSE username and password, make sure to update the ‘Preferences‘ section so that we can keep you informed with events and opportunities relevant to your interests. On CareerHub you can search for and book all of our appointments, CV discussions, practice interviews, and events including seminars, presentations, and fairs. We also have an exclusive jobs board with hundreds of opportunities!

Events

From events with our careers consultants, employer-led breakfasts and seminars to specialist events like Meet an Alum, volunteering, International Development Events Programme (IDEP), and LSE Generate’s entrepreneurship workshops there’s something for every career interest and aspiration.

Appointments and practice interviews

One-to-one appointment

Careers appointments are probably the most popular service that we offer. There are lots of things you can use a careers appointment for – from getting some guidance on how to get your career planning started to getting your applications checked over. If you’re invited to an interview you can also book a practice interview with one of our careers consultants to help you feel more confident for the real thing.

Resource Centre

In our Resource Centre on Floor 5 of the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre we have a library of books that you can borrow on a huge range of careers-related topics including interviews, psychometric tests, academic jobs, creative careers, volunteering, and starting your own business – so come up and have a look to see if any of these interest you! There are also a lot of takeaway resources about sectors and employers that may help with your careers research (bring a big bag!)
