More than 20 academics from Africa and Europe attended a London workshop co-hosted by LSE recently to discuss adopting a more biosocial approach to controlling neglected tropical diseases, which affect more than 1 billion people worldwide.

Professor John Gyapong is a public health physician and an epidemiologist. He is the Director of the Research and Development Division of the Ghana Health Service and Professor in Epidemiology and Disease Control at the School of Public Health, University of Ghana. His research has contributed to shape the agenda for filariasis control at both the national and global level.
