Following a very enjoyable/sweaty/ inspiring/tiring 100 day Round the World Challenge, all 27 LSE teams who participated in the 2014 Global Corporate Challenge (GCC) were invited to a celebration event in the Saw Swee Hock Venue.

We were treated to a glass of wine (or fruit juice if you were still on a GCC-inspired health kick) and spent an enjoyable half hour being told by a representative from GCC HQ how brilliant we all were.

Here some LSE GCC key stats:

• LSE came fourth, yes, you heard right, -fourth out of the 96 education establishments who took part globally (Yay!).
• Together, LSE took 267,807,692 steps (Wow!).
• We averaged 15,117 steps per day per person overall (The equivalent of crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge 8 times a day EACH!).
• Over the 100 days we stepped off a total of 10,798,006 calories (Which equates to 2,496 large burgers, 66,556 glasses of red wine or 43,054 slices of cake.  Hmmm, who’s hungry all of a sudden?!).

Residential Services also featured heavily in the awards ceremony:

• Four Residential Services teams were in the LSE top ten, coming in at second, fifth, sixth and ninth place (The notorious Rosebery Striders, Galaxy Trotters, On Top Of The World, and Team Trebert).
• Residential Services was the Third Most Active Department.
• Ibolya Trebert (Team Trebert) was the Third Most Improved Individual.
• Elias Dauod (Galaxy Trotters) won the Spirit of the GCC award, grabbing a prize of a limited edition, money can’t buy, green Pulse (see underneath)!

I think it’s fair to say that everyone who took part enjoyed themselves, and we all gained something from the challenge.  Some of us lost things too (mainly pounds off the scale and inches ’round the waist!).

BUT it’s not over.  We need to combat those mince pies and chocolate selection boxes somehow so GCC are challenging us to the GCC Sprint – a 16 day challenge starting on 2 December.

Lace up everyone, we’re not off the hook yet!
