The Communications Division at LSE is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience working with academic writing and a keen interest in the social sciences to work as the Managing Editor of the LSE Review of Books.

The Managing Editor will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the LSE Review of Books website. The role involves commissioning book reviews from a wide range of internal and external contributors; liaising by phone, email, social media and in person with reviewers, publishers, and authors; editing copy, with close attention to potentially sensitive issues; giving feedback to reviewers in a constructive and positive manner; maintaining a constant flow of contributions; publishing contributions using WordPress; managing the technical aspects of the site including adding functionality; and utilising social media to disseminate posts and boost engagement.

The individual must be interested in debates around the future of academic communication, social science publications, measuring academic impact, social media and metrics, non-traditional academic outputs, and knowledge exchange.

The individual should have an undergraduate degree in a social science subject, and ideally a Master’s degree or above in a social science subject. Experience working with academic writing or academic communication is essential, as well as proficiency in the WordPress blogging platform and social media channels.

£27,657 – £29,323 per annum inclusive

This is a fixed term appointment with funding confirmed until 31 July 2016
