If we are to unite the country as “One Nation” and “elevate the condition of the people” in times of stagnation, mass unemployment and austerity, there are certain realities that must be faced.

Mass immigration into the UK is often seen as having a detrimental effect on the employment prospects of British youth, threatening social cohesion, and placing a strain on public services.

In our third “Imagining One Nation” event Labour MP John Denham, journalist and historian Ruth Dudley Edwards, and Director of the British Future think-tank Sunder Katwala discuss their own experiences of immigration and debate how to address the potential problems that immigration poses in creating a “One Nation” Britain.
