The Daiwa Angolo-Japanese Foundation is a fantastic UK charity seeking to support UK- Japan links though scholarships, grants and events. Here’s some ways you can benefit:
• They have a 19 month scholarship were you’ll study the language, have a work placement and even homestay! This is open to students who’ve never even tried to learn Japanese before and also includes one month of Japanese tuition in the UK. The deadline for applications is 7 December 2017.
• If you’re a Japanese language studies graduate, you can apply for their Daiwa Scholarships in Japanese Studies. The Scholarship is a postgraduate Scholarship programme to support the study of Japanese Studies in either Japan or the UK. Only UK nationals who have or are completing an Honours Degree in Japanese. The Scholarship will cover university fees for the course in question, plus living expenses. Living expenses will be payable at a rate of £1,000 per month for periods spent in the UK, and ¥260,000 per month for periods spent in Japan. The deadline for applications is 25 January 2018.
• They hold a variety of events on Japanese culture. The next upcoming event will be a presentation by Japanese artist Hitomi Hosono on her porcelain botanical creations on 22 November 2017.
