Congratulations if you’ve been offered a new role! Before you go ahead and accept, give yourself to be sure that it will give you want and need. Here are some things to consider:

Values and interests

  • How does it align with your values? Career Builder can help you to prioritise your values and motivations.
  • Are there any ‘deal breakers’ it includes/doesn’t include?
  • How well does it align with your main areas of interest? Now? In the future?

Skills and experience

  • Does it make full use of your skills and experience? And if not, are there clear opportunities for it to do so in the future?
  • Are you clear about your role and responsibilities?
  • How well can you do the job? Any areas where you’d need to be upskilled and if so, is there training on offer?

Working culture

  • Have you met your future colleagues?
  • What’s morale like within the organisation?
  • What are the conditions of employment like? For example, is flexible working on offer?

Location

  • What would your journey be like in terms of cost and time?
  • Would you need to relocate and what support would be available to you if so?
  • How much travel would be involved?

Salary package

  • What’s the total salary package?
  • When’s the first review?
