Nearly 10% of LSE’s student population is from the US. For many of these students returning home, we know you’re looking for opportunities within government and USAJobs.gov is an excellent place to start with your job search.

Using the site

First and foremost, create an account and upload your resume. Use the resume builder tool to help you create a federal resume – a format that is specific to government jobs. The website guides you through the writing process, the required format, and all the information you must include.

Next, visit the Students and Recent Graduates page. This page will provide further information on federal careers, and will also have the links to search for student internships and graduate positions.

Once you have navigated to these pages, you can filter your searches to match your requirements. Be sure to save any searches you’ll be running a lot to save time!

Finally, don’t forget to make the most of LSE Careers and book an appointment with one of our careers consultants – you can go over your career plans, applications and more!
