Welcome to the blog of the LSE’s Department of Social Policy: Social Policy: An International Perspective. Our blog is the online home of the Department’s vibrant scholarly community.

It showcases the full complement of social policy analysis. We host discussions of topics as wide-ranging as they are multi-disciplinary to answer pressing questions of social and public policy, including behavioural public policy, criminology, development, economic and social inequality, education, migration, non-governmental organisations, population change and the life course, and well beyond.

We also provide a platform for discussions of life in the Department, and social policy-informed commentaries of the implications on wellbeing of life in a changing world.

From the Social Policy Department’s early beginnings, when leading thinkers pioneered the application of social scientific perspectives to the analysis of welfare policy, through to today, the department leads the way in research on social and public policy problems. Please do come and join the conversation at Social Policy: An International Perspective.
