Every month we’ll be sharing interesting competitions and opportunities for you to enter and get involved in. Competitions 

 

The Mayor’s Entrepreneur Competition 2019 

The city of London is offering students the opportunity to submit their business idea that can improve the city, in the Environment, Tech and Creative Industries sectors.

The competition is open to students and recent graduate from London Universities. Participants can win one of three £20k prizes, and will also benefit from additional training and mentorship opportunities and the chance to receive specialist business support from Advance London.

The deadline to enter is 17 February 2019.

St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Essay Competition

As part of its 49th “Capital for Purpose” Symposium, St. Gallen University in Switzerland is running an essay competition on the topic: Is it as good as it gets? – What approach would you suggest to change the current purpose of capital?

The competition is open to students enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate program in any field of study at a regular university, and born in 1989 or later.

The authors of the best 100 contributions will be invited to attend the Symposium, and the three best competitors will share CHF 20,000 in prize money. Essays must be submitted by 1 February 2019.

Undergraduate of the Year Award 

The TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards is an annual competition aimed at finding the best undergraduates in the UK.

Undergraduate students can submit an application for one of the 14 different awards available, each sponsored by a prominent graduate recruiter who provides a prize for the winner, including a paid internship, trips abroad and other exclusive opportunities.

You can submit your application by 30 January 2019.

Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge 

Kellogg School of Management and Morgan Stanley host a challenge where teams of graduate students from around the globe develop and pitch creative financial approaches to tackle our world’s most pressing challenges.

Teams of graduate students must propose and defend a strategy that uses finance and investment tools rather than an operating enterprise to address an environmental or societal challenge. Finalists will get to present their proposals in front a panel of Morgan Stanley judges in Hong Kong April 12, 2019, and the winning team will get $10,000.

Student Author of the Year Competition

Forex News Shop is running a Student Author of the Year Competition to highlight the talents of budding economists across the globe.

The competition is open to second year or above students in economics, who must submit five original articles of minimum 700 words on a topic relevant to Forex.

The first prize is £500 in Amazon vouchers, and the deadline is 30 April 2019.

CBS Global Case Competition

CBS’s Global 2019 case competition is held online and open to all undergraduate students globally. The winning will be invited to participate in Invitational 2019 in Conpenhagen.

To participate, you must form a case team of four undergraduate students who are still enrolled in their studies.The initial competition takes place on February 11 to February 13, 2019, and is open for everyone to participate.

Global Case Competition at Harvard 

The Global Case Competition at Havard allows students with finance and business backgrounds to compete at Harvard on a finance and strategic management case.

To participate, students must be currently enrolled in a recognised University Program, form a team of 2-5 people and have a team name and a team captain

The case solution must be submitted by 1 March 2019. The top 10 teams will be invited to Cambridge, MA and given the opportunity to make a short case presentation to a select panel of judges. The winning team will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

Scholarships

 

Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarship 

This scholarship gives the best maths graduates the chance to start an exciting career in teaching, offered by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) in collaboration with the London Mathematical Society (LMS), the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), The Mathematical Association (MA), Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI), and the National STEM Learning Centre.

To qualify for a maths scholarship, applicants need to have or be expected a 2:1 or higher postgraduate degree in a subject with significant mathematical content. If you have a 2:2 degree, you are still encouraged to apply if you can also demonstrate relevant experience.

Mathematics Teacher Training Scholars receive  a £22,000 tax-free scholarship while they train and a further £10,000 after tax once in teaching, as well membership offers, networking opportunities and professional development support.

Anglo-Danish Society Scholarship Programme

The Anglo-Danish society is running a Postgraduate scholarship programme for the 2019-2020 academic years.

This programme is open to both Danish graduates with a first degree from a Danish university and pursuing postgraduate studies or research at a university in the UK, and British graduates with a first degree from a university in the UK and undertaking postgraduate studies or research at a university in Denmark.

The minimum value is £2,500 per grand, and applications close on 1 March 2019.

Oxford Clarendon Scholarships

Fully funded Clarendon Scholarships at the University of Oxford are open for all international students pursuing a full-time or part-time Master or DPhil!

130 scholarships covering all tuition and college-fees will be awarded to outstanding applicants in the academic year 2019-2020. Applications close in January 2018.

Voice Talent Online Scholarship 

UK company Voice talent Online is offering a scholarship of $1,000 or equivalent to students enrolled in a college or university anywhere in the world.

To participate, you must write a 300-500 word blog post on the topic: “The power of video in online marketing”, and complete the application form on their website. The deadline for participation is 25 January 2019.
